ISLAMABAD: Police on Sunday night distributed to all its checkposts the photographs of three religious leaders whose entry into Islamabad has been banned during the sit-in of the Difaa-i-Pakistan Council at Aabpara on Monday, Dawn has learnt.

These leaders are: Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat president Maulana Mohammad Ahmed Ludhianvi, secretary general Maulana Khalid Dhillon and chief of Jamatud Dawa Hafiz Saeed Ahmad.

The federal capital administration had banned the entry of these three for four days to prevent them from participating in the sit-in.

Their photographs were distributed to the police posts after a meeting held under the chair of acting Senior Superintendent of Police Islamabad Sajid Kiani reviewed the security arrangements for the sit-in on Sunday night.

The sources said the police had been directed to detain any of the three religious leaders if they were spotted violating the ban and entering the capital city.

As part of the security, 20 police reserves in riot gear would be deplosyed at the venue of the sit-in. The police have also been directed to check computerised national identity cards of those entering the city on Monday.

Security at the exit and entry points has been further strengthened by deploying extra police force. The meeting also decided that burqa-clad women entering the city would also be checked by policewomen.
