DERA GHAZI KHAN, Feb 11: Young lot constitutes a considerable portion of Pakistan’s population that can transform the fate of the country, chief minister’s MNA son Hamza Shahbaz said while speaking at laptops distribution ceremony here on Saturday.

Earlier, the chief minister, who was scheduled to visit the city to distribute laptops among 850 shining students, could not turn up owing to his engagements.

Hamza said that no one had magic wand to wave and overnight solve Pakistan’s all problems but the 100 million youths out of 180 million total population could do it.

He also highlighted development projects initiated by the PML-N’s provincial government. A smartly turned-out Baloch Levy contingent provided a guard of honour to the recipients of laptops.

Later, Hamza and CM’s senior adviser Zulfikar Ali Khan Khosa distributed laptops among the students.

STUDENT PROTEST: A student, who had received a congratulatory call from the chief minister and an SMS about her selection as recipient of laptop, was excluded from the final list of recipients ahead of the ceremony.

Mahwish Baloch, MBA 5th Semester student at the Postgraduate College, Dera Ghazi Khan, received SMS No 80011 on Jan 9, 2012 at 2.19pm and a congratulatory call from the chief minister from landline (051-2069013) on Jan 12 about her selection as recipient of a laptop on merit. But, at the eleventh hour, her name was excluded from the list of recipients.

Talking to Dawn, Ms Baloch appealed to the chief minister to take notice of the exclusion of her name from the merit list.

College principal Dr Najeeb said selection was made purely on merit and no one was excluded from the list.
