KARACHI: A man and two women were killed when gunmen opened fire on a car here in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Police said the vehicle came under fire near a flyover in the Gizri area of Clifton police station.

The gunmen, who were reportedly on a motorcycle, escaped after the attack, police said.

The car belonged to Balochistan MPA Mir Bakhtiar Domki and the women were his wife and daughter.

The victims were rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where the man, the driver of the car, was pronounced dead while the women died some time later.

Earlier in the day, three activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement were shot dead in New Karachi.

In what appeared to be yet another sectarian murder in the city, a 25-year-old man was killed near his home in the Ancholi area of Federal B. Area.

People turned violent in the area in protest against the killing.

The victim Taseer Abbas was a member of the Anjuman Tanzeem-i-Hussaini. His uncle Nisar Abbas Zaidi heads the Anjuman.
