KARACHI: Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-i-Azam, rang up Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Saturday to express regrets over a statement made by his party MPA Shaharyar Khan Mahar, who ridiculed the CM during an effort by some members of the Sindh Assembly to force the passage of a resolution against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s draft bill for amending the constitution to alter the limits of provinces.

Mr Mahar had on Thursday apologised to the CM for using unparliamentary language against him but refused to be part of his cabinet and said he was sending his resignation to his party chief.

Ch Shujaat condemned the statement of Mr Mahar against Mr Shah and also denied reports about his receiving Mahar’s resignation. He further informed the chief minister that he had warned the MPA over his remarks.
