KARACHI, Jan 26: President Asif Ali Zardari expressed concern on Thursday over the deaths caused by faulty drugs in Lahore and called for a report from the health ministry.

Spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said the president had directed the managing director of Baitul Maal to visit the affected families and extend all possible assistance to them.

He said the president had asked the Baitul Maal chief to specially look after poor children who had been rendered orphans as a result of this incident..—APP

Our Staff Reporter adds from Lahore: In a related development, the Lahore High Court directed the federal and Punjab health secretaries, director general of the Federal Investigation Agency, inspector general of Punjab police and medical superintendent of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology to appear along with their reports on drug reaction deaths.
