LAHORE, Jan 15: An alleged robber shot dead a 40-year-old security guard of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) after looting cash and a cell phone from a citizen in Y-Block in Defence-A police precincts on Saturday night into Sunday.

The police said a robber was snatching cash and valuables from a motorist near Shiba Parl( when DHA security guard identified as Muhammad Ramzan, who was returning home on a bil(e after duty, smelled a rat and rushed to the spot.

As he challenged the suspect, the latter opened fire on the former and fled after snatching wallet and cell phone from car rider Mohsin. Mohsin took Ramzan to National Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

In another incident, two alleged robbers stopped motorcyclist Adnan and his wife in Shalimar police precincts and snatched from them cash and jewellery worth Rs400,000. As the couple offered resistance, the suspects gave them sound thrashing before fleeing.

In yet another incident, three robbers stormed the house of Sarmad Khan in Sattokatla police limits and took away cash and valuables worth Rs600,000.

STRAY BULLET: A 26-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a stray bullet at the rooftop of her house on College Road in Shalimar police precincts on Sunday.

Mudagas Perveen was standing at her roof when the bullet fired by unknown person hit her. The mother of four was taken to Shalimar Hospital by her husband Mobeen Ali, but to no avail.
