HYDERABAD, Dec 14: The chairman of airport sub-committee of Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI), Abdul Qayoom Nusrat, has called for resuming flights from Hyderabad for lifting cargo and extending the runway to launch Boeing plane service.

He said in a statement that by exporting vegetables and mangoes and olive from Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar and surrounding areas, a huge amount of foreign exchange could be earned for the country.

He said farmers and traders of Hyderabad had been exporting vegetables and fresh fruits from Karachi airport. Due to the delay in shipment, they had to face heavy financial losses because orders were cancelled and trust of Hyderabad traders was being damaged in the international market, he said.

Abdul Qayoom said that export of fruits and vegetables and other goods of $60 million from Hyderabad was chievement of industrialists and businessmen of Hyderabad. Goods are being exported from Hyderabad to a large number of countries.

The government, he said, was charging infrastructure development tax from the exporters but was paying no attention to the development of infrastructure.—Bureau
