KARACHI, Nov 28: In what is being described as an unsuccessful carjacking attempt, unidentified persons shot dead two men in a Korangi locality on Monday, police said.

They said that two armed men on a motorcycle intercepted Abdul Majid who was driving his Suzuki pickup (CL-8924) in Korangi No 5 at around 7am within the remit of the Zaman Town police station.

They said apparently Mr Majid offered resistance and the suspects opened indiscriminate fire and escaped.

The bullets hit Mr Majid as well as a passer-by, later identified as Amir, and they died on the spot.

The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

The police said that Mr Majid ran a pick-and-drop service for schoolchildren. He was the father of two.

Zaman Town SHO Hatim Marwat described the incident as a car snatching bid.

He said that the victims lived in the same area and were not affiliated with any political or religious party.

He said Amir had just come out of a nearby mosque when he was hit by a bullet. He was the father of two and a painter by profession.

A case (FIR 615/11) was registered at the Zaman Town police station against unidentified men on a complaint of Abdul Rasheed, Mr Majid’s father.

PN man found shot dead A civilian employee of Pakistan Navy was found shot dead within the remit of the Jackson police station, police said.

They said that the body of man was found from the sea near Qasim Shah Road late on Sunday night. The body was identified as that of 45-year-old Khan Mohammad, resident of Tashqand Mohalla in Keamari’s Machhar Colony.

The police said that the victim was shot in the right eye and the body also bore torture marks.

The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities.

A duty officer at the Jackson police station said the victim was a civilian employee of the navy.

He had gone out of his home to get a cellphone of his younger brother repaired on Sunday evening and after that he had no contact with his family. After losing contact, the family reported the matter to the area police station.

The victim was father of seven children and hailed from Swabi.

The police suspected that personal enmity might have the motive behind the killing.
