The wedding season in full bloom till until last week is now seeing a momentary pause in the wedding festivities during the month of Moharram.

Earlier, a fashion presentation featuring the designs of fabric designer Tazeen Hussain who has an longstanding presence on Zamzama’s designer boulevard, and the elusive menswear designer Ahmed Bahm, showcased their take on heavy formals at a glitzy event in Karachi to mark the launch of Leighton Denny and the Bride & Groom Services Lounge in Karachi by MStyle.

What ensued was a flurry of media activity with fashion critics somewhat tightly-squeezed on the ground level of the Toni&Guy outlet and rubbing shoulders with diplomatic presence from the UK High Commission in Karachi — all there to witness a band of select models sporting the works by both designers and striking a posture amid a blaze of flashguns going off.

Models Nadia Hussain, Fouzia, Ayaan, Konain, Hira Tareen, Tipu, Momo and others sashayed around the floor of the outlet, with the female models displaying a colour palette ranging from beige, peach, tea pink, ivory to black and blingy formals offset by designer Kundan jewellery by Chhotani Jewellers worn in an improvised and innovative manner and accentuated by elaborate hairstyles.

According to CEO Saeeda Mandviwalla, the facility offers a wide range of services especially designed to meet all the needs of the bride and groom. MStyle is a parent company of Toni&Guy-Karachi and Essensuals Hairdressing.

The male models in Ahmed Bahm’s menswear appeared dapper and sharp in body-hugging dark suits set off by waistcoats and cravats along with smartly structured sherwanis that certainly gave them an edge over their female counterparts for once.

The edgy hairstyles for men were the centre of attention and made a subtle yet strong statement about the quality of services rendered at the grooming facility. It was pleasant to see the collections by these two designers who otherwise rarely make their presence felt at ramp shows in Karachi.
