ISLAMABAD: During Wednesday’s hearing of the case against alleged corruption in rental power projects (RPPs), Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry remarked that events indicated fraud in the ventures, DawnNews reported.

The hearing of the case was ongoing. A counsel for National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra), Najmul Hasan, said that Nepra had brought forward details regarding the government’s irregularities in the RPPs.

Hasan also claimed that certain private companies were given advance payments without consultation with the Nepra.

The court was also told that one private company was paid advance without any contract.

It was also informed that another company succeeded in getting the advance payment twice on shifting faulty machinery from one place to another.
