KARACHI, Sept 26: Armed bandits deprived three employees of a private bank of around Rs1.6 million on I.I. Chundrigar Road on Monday afternoon, police said.

The police added that the armed robbers also relieved one of the employees of his pistol after smashing their car window and sped away.

“Three employees of Al-Baraka bank were taking Rs1.6 million in a private car when they were intercepted by two armed men riding a motorbike close to the branch,” said an official at the Arambagh police station.

The armed riders smashed the window, snatched the cash from the car occupants at gunpoint and took away the pistol being carried by one of the bank employees, said ASP Ali Asif.

“The bank had hired some dedicated staff who were supposed to transport the cash,” the officer said.

An FIR of the incident was yet to be registered at the Arambagh police station till filing of this report.
