COLOMBO: Australia clinched the Test series against Sri Lanka 1-0 after the third and final game ended in a draw at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Tuesday.

Skipper Michael Clarke scored 112 and Michael Hussey made 93 as Australia piled up 488 in their second innings before they were all out shortly before close with a lead of 331 runs.

Sri Lanka were 7-0 in two overs in their second knock when the match was called off. The tourists won the first Test in Galle by 125 runs, while the rain-hit second match in Pallekele was drawn.

Australia, who lost both Twenty20 internationals at the start of the tour, also won the one-day series 3-2.

Brief scores: Australia 316 and 488; Sri Lanka 473 and 7-0.
