CHINIOT: A road accident early Monday killed at least six persons, besides causing injuries to 28 others near here on Jhang road.

The Islamabad-bound bus coming from Multan rammed into a truck parked alongside the road near Bukharian on Jhang road, about 20 kilometres from here.

According to police, four among the injured were in critical condition. Those identified among the dead were — Zohaib, a 10-year-old boy, his father Mulazam Hussain and Abdur Rahim. Another three were yet to be identified. The bus driver escaped from the scene.

Police said a woman Naseem, her son Shoaib, and two other seriously injured passengers were shifted to Allied Hospital Faisalabad. Twelve others were in Civil Hospital Chiniot.

The accident destroyed the bus completely. The injured and the dead were taken out after cutting the mangled body of the vehicle.

Ambulance service of Chiniot Civil Hospital was not available on which family members of the passengers protested strongly. The Edhi service and locals shifted the injured to the hospitals.
