
KARACHI: Army troops carried out relief work in the flood and rain affected areas of interior of Sindh on Wednesday.
An official of the ISPR said that ration was distributed among 500 families who were affected by last year's floods in Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah and other affected areas of district Dadu.
He said that the army constructed 51 houses for the flood affectees in district Dadu's Nihal Sohag and Ahmed Khan Babar goths.
Several homes, schools and mosques were also renovated in the area and 25 water pumps were also installed.
He said that the troops also assisted the civil administration in relief and rescue work for those affected by the recent rains in Thatta, Badin,Tando Muhammad Khan, Jhuddo and Digri areas.
Free medical camps were also set up and some 20,000 people were treated free of cost.
Meanwhile, the Corps Commander, Lt. Gen. Muhammad Zahir ul Islam, appreciated the services rendered by the army and conveyed this in his message to the troops.
