MIRAMSHAH: A US drone strike in the South Waziristan tribal region on Friday killed at least two people, DawnNews reported.

The unmanned aircraft fired two missiles, hitting a house in the Shin Warsak area of the tribal region, wounding two other people, security officials told AFP.

South Waziristan was largely under the control of the Pakistani Taliban until October 2009, when the Pakistani army launched an operation there.

However, militant activity is still occasionally reported in the region.
