ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain welcomed the Sindh government's decision to restore the Local Government Ordinance 2001 in the province.

Mr Hussain expressed felicitations to President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad.

In a statement from London, he said that democracy would derive strength from the government's action of restoring the LG system in Sindh, adding that it would help create an atmosphere of brotherhood in the entire province, a private news channel reported.

He also felicitated the people of Sindh saying that this decision would prove as a milestone in flourishing democracy.
