KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) announced on Thursday that its members in Sindh Assembly will stage a protest march against recent violence in Karachi, from Karachi Press Club to Sindh Chief Minister's House on Friday.

This was announced by member Rabita Committee, Raza Haroon in a press briefing to media at MQM's headquarters 90 in Azizabad.

The announcement came after a joint meeting of MQM Rabita Committee held simultaneously in London and Karachi.

Raza Haroon said staging peaceful protest is our democratic right and we intend to pursue policy of peace.

He said we express sympathy and absolute solidarity with affectees of recent violent incidents that took place in Orangi town, Qasba Colony, Gulfamabad and other areas in the city.

Raza Haroon said if the situation remained unchanged, his party would be compelled to give a strike call.

He pointed out that the joint meeting of MQM Rabita Committee held to discuss situation in Karachi and decided to record protest in a peaceful manner.

Besides taking out peaceful protest march the Parliamentarians of MQM would also stage peaceful protest in the Parliament at Islamabad.

Protest would also be recorded in Sindh and National assemblies and the Senate, he added.

He rejected the impression pertaining to clash between two factions in Orangi town, Qasba Colony and adjoining areas.

He invited media to visit disturbed areas and witness situation.

Raza Haroon also requested human rights organisations to send their representatives to affected areas in the city to discover and collect facts.

Members Rabita Committee, Mrs Nasreen Jaleel, Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari, Waseem Aftab, Gulfaraz Khan Khatak and Yousuf Shawani were also present on the occasion.
