ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar said on Friday that the recent Pakistan and India dialogue was a good start and hoped that a durable solution will be found to the Kashmir issue by taking fully on board the Kashmiri leadership.

She stated this while addressing the 38th Session of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) in Kazakhstan.

A delegation of Kashmiri Representatives also attended the session, which was consisted of Agha Syed Hassan Almossive Alsafiv, Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, Ghulam Mohammed Safi, Barrister A Majid Tramboo, Prof. Nazir Shawl and G.N. Fai.

The delegation met with the foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, Iran, Turkey and Pakistan.

A special meeting of the OIC Contact Group On Kashmir was also held at the conference centre, chaired by the OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, in which the Kashmiri delegation, together with representatives of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Niger, Pakistan and Kazakhstan participated.

In his opening speech Ihsanoglu reaffirmed OIC's commitment on the Kashmir issue. He drew particular attention to the special representatives’ recent visit to the global discourse on Kashmir in the European Parliament.

The representatives of Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Niger reiterated their continued support for the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir conflict in accordance with the aspirations of the people of the troubled region.

The leader of the Kashmir delegation Agha Syed of All Parties Hurriyat Conference thanked the OIC for it's continued support, he also portrayed the hardship of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

He appealed the OIC to play a much more pro-active role to resolve the Kashmir conflict - as per the aspirations of the Kashmiri people - for a stable South Asia and global peace.

The Kashmiri delegation thanked the Secretary General for the continued support of the OIC and presented a memorandum on behalf of the people of Kashmir.
