PESHAWAR: The Custom Department KPK on Sunday burnt to ashes a huge quantity of narcotics to mark International Anti-Narcotics Day.

Deputy Director Customs Rashid Habib Khan told journalists at Azakhel Nowshera that Model Custom Collectorate of Peshawar has destroyed 776.29 kg (gross) of heroine powder, 1601.35kg (gross) of opium, 8702.175 kg of Chars, other perishable and non perishable goods besides fake cigarettes, which have been seized by Custom Authorities during various successful raids.

He said Pakistan Customs remains committed to the cause of total eradication the menace of drugs and narcotics from the society as at poses a serious threat not only to public health but it also undermines socio-economic stability and sustainable development.

He said that people from every walk of life should have to play a positive and constructive role by educating general masses and youth to combat narcotics.
