DUBAI: Local media say Dubai prosecutors have charged 13 police officers with beating a Pakistani prisoner so badly that he later died.

The National and Gulf News newspapers reported the allegations on Wednesday after they were made public during a court hearing the previous day.

The officers reportedly face multiple charges including abuse of power, excessive use of force and torture. The Pakistani man was being held as part of an investigation into an alleged kidnapping and murder case.
