KARACHI, May 16: Police have been ordered to launch a crackdown on illegal and fake travel agencies across the province and the action will be initiated soon.

This was stated by Sindh Minister for Law and Tourism Ayaz Soomro while discussing developments in the tourism sector with the business community at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry office on Monday.

He said some travel agencies and hotels owed millions of rupees to the provincial government under the head of taxes. “We are going to serve notices asking them to clear the dues within 15 days or face action,” the minister said.

Earlier, KCCI president Saeed Shafiq told the meeting that the tourism sector could not flourish unless law and order in the country was improved.—PPI
