GUJRANWALA, April 19: The sessions court on Tuesday allowed bail to the three police officials, one of them an SHO, who were awarded one-year imprisonment with a Rs2,000 fine each by the judicial magistrate on the charge of illegally detaining a man.

The counsel for the accused had challenged the verdict of the magistrate and submitted a bail application.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Khursheed Anwar Rizvi accepted the appeal of the accused and ordered their release on submission of surety bonds of Rs50,000 each. The court adjourned the hearing till April 25.

Ferozewala police SHO Mudassar Butt, sub-inspector Abdul Hamid and constable Ehsanullah picked up Muhammad Tufail from his house and kept him in illegal confinement in 2008. A sessions court bailiff had recovered him.
