LAHORE: Title favourites Army and Wapda scored big wins on the opening day of the Inter-departmental Rugby 15s tournament on Monday.

In the opening match of the tournament, Wapda beat a hapless Police side 21-0, with the winners’ Rugby 15s experience being the obvious advantage. Wapda captain Babar led from the front, scoring two tries as his team maintained their dominance throughout the match.

Meanwhile, Army lived up to their favourites’ billing when they cruised to a 29-0 win over Navy.

The tournament, comprising four teams, is being played at Lahore’s DHA Rugby Stadium, with the final scheduled on April 24.

Lahore-Islamabad Super League Earlier, Pakistan’s top two rugby club sides, Lahore Rams and Islamabad Jinns clashed in a Super League mach, where some high-quality rugby skills were on display.

Lahore ended up winning the closely-contested match with a 10-7 score to make the league score Islamabad 2, Lahore 1.
