QUETTA, March 17: Three Frontier Corps personnel and two policemen were killed and 12 others injured in attacks in different areas of Balochistan on Thursday. One assailant died in an exchange of fire in Jaffarabad district, according to sources.

An FC vehicle was patrolling the area along the Rabi canal in Nasirabad district when a bomb exploded near it. The vehicle was blown up and FC personnel Kaleemullah and Ghulam Sarwar were killed.

Seven others – Riaz Ahmed, Mohammad Irfan, Sajjad, Abdul Rehman, Nawab Khan, Lutfullah and Tajamul Hussain – were injured. Dawn

“Yes, our two soldiers lost their lives in the blast,” the FC sources confirmed to . They said it was a remote-controlled device.

A third FC man was killed and another injured when a bomb placed in a car went off.

Police sources said some people had parked the car in the Badani Cross area and placed a bomb in it. They detonated it through remote control when the FC patrol came close to the car. Two FC men were injured and taken to the CMH where one of them, identified as Saeed, died.

Security forces cordoned off the area and carried out a search operation.

A head constable was killed and two other policemen were injured when unidentified men opened fire on a check-post in Daulatpur area of Jaffarabad district. The sources said that automatic weapons were used in the attack. The police manning the post retaliated and during the ensuing battle a policeman was killed and two others were injured. Police sources said that an attacker was also killed, but they did not identify him.

The dead policeman was identified as Akhtar Hussain and the injured as Sabir Hussain and Ghulam Nabi.

Three Anti-Narcotics Force personnel were injured when a bomb exploded near a bus-stop in Turbat when the ANF vehicle was passing through the area. The ANF vehicle was badly damaged in the blast.

A bullet-riddled body of a head constable was found in a nullah in the Spani road area. Police sources said that Syed Mohammad Shah was kidnapped a few days ago.

A remote-controlled bomb planted on the railway track near the Dingra station was detonated when Bolan Mail was passing, damaging its engine.

A Levies Force official said the bomb was planted on the main track linking Balochistan to the rest of the country.

Pakistan Railways officials in Sibi confirmed the incident.

Independent sources said three railway employees were injured in the blast.
