QUETTA, March 1: A local official of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan was shot dead on Tuesday evening, sources said.

Naeem Sabir, HRCP's Khuzdar District Coordinator, was sitting at his stationery shop in Chakar Khan Road area when armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire at him.

Police reached the site and took Mr Sabir to the civil hospital where he died.

“Naeem Sabir was working as a sub-engineer in the Irrigation Department,” a police official said, adding that motive behind the murder was not clear.

“Police are investigating the case,” he said.No one claimed responsibility for the murder.
