Firdous Ashiq Awan talking to media persons at PTV Headquarters.-APP

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan on Tuesday dispelled the impression being created by a section of media that there was a difference of opinion between the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the government on the issue of Raymond Davis.

“The statement given by Fouzia Wahab has been presented as a stated policy of PPP or the government, which is not correct,” said Awan.

She said that the matter of Davis was of sensitive nature and therefore needed to be handled scrupulously.

The minister said that the government and the ruling party were on the same page on the issue of Davis.

“Raymond Davis has immunity or not, it would only be decided by courts and we will follow the verdict,” Awan said.

“No individual can grant immunity to anyone, the courts in Pakistan are free and independent and they would decide the matter in due course of time”, she added.
