HYDERABAD: Radio Pakistan Hyderabad arranged a benefit show to raise financial support for once famous Sindhi and Siraiki folk singer Zeenat Shaikh, who until recently had been forgotten and was living off begging through the streets of Thatta.

Shaikh's plight was brought to attention by an article published in the daily Dawn, which described her dire state at present.

Learning about the singer and her current condition, Radio Pakistan Hyderabad arranged a benefit show for her on Saturday.

Zeenat Shaikh was present at the show and was given cash gifts and funds by Murtaza Solangi, Director General of Radio Pakistan, as well as other prominent residents of the city.
