KARACHI: Defending champions Wapda and Railways stormed into the last four round of the 26th PIA National Women's Hockey Championship after winning their third successive matche at the Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium here on Saturday.

Spearhead Aniza Bashir scored a brace as Wapda overpowered a fighting Pakistan Army 3-2. The winners led 2-0 at half-time.

Neelma Hussain scored the other goal for Wapda. Shamshad and Rashida scored one goal apiece for Army.

In the next game of the day, centre-forward Ayesha Bashir banged her third hat-trick of the event as Railways trashed Punjab Colors 5-2. Railways led 2-0 at half time.

With her hat-trick Bashir raised her tally of goals in the competition to 15. Rashida Waheed and Asifa Zafar scored one each for the losers.

Meanwhile, Sindh Whites scored three goals each half of the match to route a weak Islamabad 6-0.

Kiran Fatima and Madiha netted pairs each. Rozina and Farheen slammed the other two goals.

In the last match of the day, Punjab Whites defeated Sindh Colors 2-0. Tehmina Aslam and Nimra Imtiaz scored one goal each.
