QUETTA, Jan 3: The judicial magistrate-1 Quetta has sent Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti, the provincial president of Jamhoori Watan Party, and his 26 guards to the district jail after completion of their 10-day remand in police custody.

An anti-terrorism court had ordered three days ago that the case be shifted to the civil court on the grounds that the recovery of arms and ammunition did not fall in the ATC jurisdiction.

Shahzain’s lawyer Wishisher Nath Kohli told reporters that he had filed an application in the sessions court seeking bail for Mr Bugti and his guards. He said the court would hear the bail application on Jan 6.

Mr Bugti reiterated that he had been implicated in a fake case in order to stop him from holding a long march to Dera Bugti on Jan 28.
