THE Educational Endowment Fund is meant to help students who either don’t have any financial backup to engage themselves in their educational career or are facing myriad problems during their academic years owing to financial constraints. The recently announced Educational Endowment Fund is meant for students of Balochistan studying in other provinces. Sadly, most of the funds go to undeserving or rich students having contacts who without a doubt don’t need any.

Not surprisingly, the attitude of the authorities concerned adds fuel to the fire. Most needy students feel frustrated on realising that funds are being siphoned off.

The majority of poor Baloch students studying at the University of Karachi, SM Law College, etc., have been ignored in favour of those having contacts in all the right places. Considering the above-mentioned points, it will be unfair and an injustice to ignore poor students and provide the funds to those who don’t need it at all.
