ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has felicitated the Parliament and nation on the unanimous passage of the 19th Constitutional Amendment Bill in Senate on Thursday, terming it a 'memorable day'.

The president said the smooth passage of 19th Constitutional Amendment Bill by both the houses of parliament in the light of Supreme Court observations had belied those who talked of a clash of institutions.

President Zardari in a message felicitated Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, members of the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms, Leader of the House in Senate as well as the leaders of opposition in both the houses of parliament.

He also felicitated all the political parties and their leaders for showing maturity, wisdom and farsightedness in passing the Bill.

The president said that the passage of the Bill would further strengthen democracy and its vital institutions.
