PESHAWAR: Wapda got their 31st National Games netball campaign off to a great start, beating a tough Punjab side 31-23 in the opening match at the PAF Sports Complex on Sunday.

Wapda right from the outset of the match dominated proceedings but found a tough opponent in Punjab who played with a lot of determination to turn what initially seemed like a one-sided affair into a hotly contested encounter. In the second match Army defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) by 42-21.

In the women’s netball event, Police and Sindh also secured victories against their respective rivals. Police defeated Balochistan 30-0 in a one-sided affair. The second match saw favourites Sindh outclass KP by 22-6. Sindh’s passing and coordination were just too good for the KP side.

A total of six teams comprising Army, Police, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and host Khyber Paktunkhwa are taking part. The teams have been divided in two groups A & B.

Group A Sindh Punjab Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)

Group B Army Police Balochistan
