RAWALPINDI, Dec 13: Anti-terrorism court judge Rana Nisar Ahmed on Monday handed down death sentence on two counts to three men in a kidnap-for-ransom and murder case. Qamar Hussain, Waseem Ashraf and Ali Khan killed Rehmatullah, 20, after kidnapping him last year. Each convict will pay Rs300,000 compensation to heirs of the deceased.

Dilawar Khan, the uncle of the deceased, told the police on January 20, 2009 that unknown callers sought Rs1.5 million ransom for the release of his nephew after he was taken away from his house in Pir Mehr Ali Shah Town.

The kidnappers threw the body of Rehmat outside his house when his family could not pay the ransom. — Our Reporter
