2 killed during Eid holidays

CHAKWAL, Nov 19: Two persons were killed and one injured in different incidents during Eid holidays, it has been learnt.

A man was gunned down while another was injured over a petty issue on the second day of Eid.

Mohammad Iqbal, a resident of Pachnand village of Talagang, told Lawa police that he and his cousin Ahmad Khan (42) had an exchange of harsh words with Mohammad Aslam a few weeks ago. On November 18 Mohammad Aslam along with Mumtaz Ali, Liaquat Ali, Gul Mohammad and Arshad Ali came to their house. Mohammad Aslam fired at Ahmad Khan killing him on the spot, while Mumtaz Ali shot and injured Iqbal. Lawa police have registered First Information Report (FIR) and started investigation.

In another incident, a student of intermediate was killed late Tuesday evening.

Tayyab Ahmad, a resident of Chakora village, was hanging from a bus. When the vehicle passed through a rough patch, he lost his balance and fell down, dying on the spot. —Correspondent

Policeman shot dead

TAXILA, Nov 19: A policeman was ‘shot’ dead in Jallo village in the jurisdiction of Hassanabdal police station on Tuesday night.

Police sources said Sub-Inspector Ghulam Habib, who served at the VVIP security branch, had been spending his Eid holidays in his village.

When his wife got up, he found her husband dead with a single bullet wound to his forehead. Hassanabdal police have registered a case against unknown assailants and have started investigation. Police sources said they were investigating as to how the assailants managed to kill the policeman in the presence of his family members.

The body of the slain policeman was handed over to his family for burial after autopsy at THQ hospital Hassanabdal on Eid day. — Correspondent
