KARACHI: Pakistan ended its engagements in the cue sports in the ongoing XVI Asian Games in Guangzhou on a sour note as two contenders Mohammad Sajjad and Khurram Hussain Agha were knocked out in snooker singles pre quarter-finals on Friday.

According to results made available here, Marco Fu of Hong Kong pulled off a major upset when he blanked this year's Asian championship runner up Sajjad 4-0 in the last 16.

The Pakistani, who has got a first round bye, had sent Afghanistans Sen Zahi packing 4-1 in the second round the scores being 64-22, 52-28, 56-43, 31-64, 63-25.

Marco Fu's teammate Fung Kwok Wai whipped Agha, a former Pakistan No 1, 4-1 to surge into the last eight.

Earlier, Agha had chalked up 4-2 victory over Moh Keen Ho of Malaysia in the preliminary round and thrashed Kuwaits Taqi Al Meqdad 4-0 in the second.

Pakistans trio of Imran Shahzad, Sohail Shahzad and Shahram Changezi gave their country the first medal of the games, a bronze, in the snooker team event on Tuesday.
