US court rules against stem cell funding

WASHINGTON, Aug 23: A US district court issued a preliminary injunction on Monday to stop federal funding of human embryonic stem cell research, saying it involved the destruction of human embryos.

The court ruled in favour of a suit filed in June by a researcher who objected to the Obama administration's new guidelines allowing federal funding of the controversial research. —Reuters
