Chit chat: A rocking RJ

Published October 3, 2009

Nabia Muzaffar hosts the very popular show, Day Trippin, on Radio Active FM96. Being a Gemini, Nabia has a multifarious personality — a blend of seriousness and fun and this is evident in her shows which convey social messages  and at the same time have juicy gossips and fun talks.

But the best aspect of her show is the variety of music that is played. Nabia has an excellent taste in music, ranging from pop to hip-hop and jazz to rock. Here we explore more about her in a casual chit chat with Young World.

Your full and real name?

Well, it's Vanessa Nabia Muzaffar, but because it causes too much of identity confusion, I stick to Nabia Muzaffar only.
Star sign /Birth date
Gemini / May 29, 1988

Your favourite artists/ bands?

Incubus, Placebo, Porcupine Tree, Dave Mathews Band, Aqualung, The Dandy Warhols, Dido, T.I (the only rap artist I like), DJ Smash and Rachael Starr.

Your favourite label?

I really don't have any favourite label. I like the urban chic look, so whenever I find clothes that fulfil this criterion, I buy them without considering the brand.

The last perfume you bought?

I haven't bought a perfume for years. People always give me a nice stock and the last perfume I received was Escada Sentiment.

What do you do to relax?

I've been doing this since I was a child and it works like magic — I read a book with music playing in the background. I love to match the feel of the music with the theme of the book and it's a wonderful feeling!

You favourite food?

Nandos chicken! I also love kaali daal with chaawal. Biryani, Italian, French and Chinese food and sushi (a Japanese dish) are also my favourites.

Best coffee place?

Espresso, it's actually like my second home!

What's in your DVD player?

Grey's Anatomy

Most necessary qualities to be a radio jockey?

A good RJ needs to have excellent speaking skills. It's easy for all to talk when they have someone in front of them, but the challenge is on radio, when you are alone in the studio talking into a microphone, and yeah, an RJ also needs to have good voice quality, because on air nothing sounds worse than an RJ with an annoying voice.

Your worst nightmare?

Losing the people that mean the most to me!

Most important possession?

My memories, therefore my most important possessions are pictures and other things which are related to my happy memories.

Describe yourself in three words?

Pensive, caring and social.
