THE University of Sindh starts its four-month coaching classes' programme for CSS/PCS examinations each year in August. It is the only one of its kind launched by the university in the province of Sindh.

The hopes of students who get enrolled for this programme are shattered when they find hardly any teacher worthy enough. It is often clearly stated in advertisements that the university would ensure the hiring of CSS/PCS-qualified coaches for aspiring candidates.

However, the university's claim always seems hollow because I, myself, have experienced attending classes in its 2007 session. We were strictly directed to attend classes regularly and were told that qualified teachers would be teaching us. But on attending classes we found that only one teacher was from the Sindh Civil Services of DMG cadre but the rest were either retired professors or were non-qualified CSS/PCS.

I, on behalf of other candidates, request university authorities that before starting such programmes they must appoint CSS-qualified teachers so as to benefit students rather than wasting their time, money and energy with unqualified teachers.
