LAHORE, July 31 The Lahore High Court on Friday allowed the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) to announce the secondary school examination results on Saturday (today) after the chairman assured the court that all the students would be given grace marks.
Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman also disposed of a petition challenging the marking mechanism of papers by Sheikhupura Jamia High School teacher Arshad Abbas in view of the assurance given by the BISE chairman.
Petitioner's counsel Khawar Ikram Bhatti submitted that his client had appeared in the examination and answered all questions according to the syllabus and course recommended by the board. The sample solved papers provided by the board to the examiners were, however, not in accordance with the syllabus which would affect the marking of papers of the petitioner and other students.
The counsel said the board as per routine provided sample solved papers to all examiners, which were not in conformity with the syllabus and course.
He said this anomaly would affect the marking of answer sheets as the examiners would mark the questions as per answers provided to them.
He prayed for restraining the board from announcing the result till the examiners were provided new sample solved papers in accordance with the syllabus.
Meanwhile, all the eight boards of intermediate and secondary education are declaring matriculation annual examination for 2009 results on Saturday (today).
At a ceremony at the Lahore board, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will award prizes to position holders.
