LARKANA, June 29 Nawab Shabbir Ahmed Chandio, chief of Chandio tribe and district nazim of Qambar-Shahdadkot who died on Sunday in Karachi, was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Ghaibidero on Monday.

Hundreds of people from different walks of life gathered at his residence in Qambar to participate in the last rites. Later, the body was taken to Ghaibidero.

Sindh Minister for Food Nadir Magsi, Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar, leader of opposition in Sindh Assembly Jam Madad Ali, Larkana District Nazim Mohammad Bakhsh Arijo, Larkana Taluka Nazim Qurban Abbasi and a large number of relatives and acquaintances attended Nawab's last rites.

The funeral prayers were led by Syed Hussain Shah, a prominent spiritual personality of Qambar.

Qambar, Warah, Nasirabad and Lalu Rounk towns were closed to mourn the death.

According to sources, notables of Chandio tribe will soon hold a meeting to nominate new chief of the tribe.
