An enquiry into the alleged embezzlement of over 100 million rupees from the development fund at Khangarh has found evidence of fraud and the report has been submitted to the chief secretary of Punjab, Zahid Javed Malik.

According to APP, the enquiry was instituted at the behest of Member National Assembly Jamshed Ahmed Dasti who delivered a formal complaint to the chief secretary of Punjab earlier this year.

According to Dasti, Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmad, a senior vice-president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q had been allocated special funds worth 100 million rupees for the construction of roads through Khangarh. However it had been alleged that money was embezzled through the use of substandard materials in the project.

Subsequent to the complaint, Malik appointed local government officials Muhammad Ashraf Janjua and  Muhammad Hashim Naqi to look into the allegations. The two-member team found that contractors involved in the construction had defrauded the public by using substandard and insufficient material. The report has recommended that action be taken against the following contractors Muhammad Tahir, Muhammad Ashraf, Aamir Hanif, Malik Rafiq and Muhammad Farooq.
