BAHAWALPUR, Jan 3: The Sui gas pressure in some of the areas in the district has not been normalized even on the orders of Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool during his visit here on Thursday.

The governor had directed the officials of Sui gas to redress complaints of consumers of low gas pressure in many localities, but the officials have failed to comply with his instructions so far.

ELECTED: Prof Mujahid Rasool and Abdul Sattar were declared unopposed president and secretary-general of the Islamia University's academic staff association, on Saturday. Prof Dr Abdul Rehan Bokhari was elected unopposed vice-president, Dr Shahid Naveed joint secretary and Dr Karamat Mahmood finance secretary of the association.

BAR POLLS: Saeed Ijaz and Muhammad Ashraf were elected unopposed president and finance secretary of the District Bar Association on Saturday, the last day for filing nomination papers.

Eight members of the executive council also were elected unopposed. They were Iqbal Gujjar, Ali Ashraf Qureshi, Ms Ayesha Nawaz, Sohail Kamran, Chaudhry Musharraf, Imran Lodhi, Abdul Jabbar and Chaudhry Sarwar.

Polling for other offices will be held on Jan 10. Those in the run are Tahir Saeed Ramay and A D Sial for vice-president, Aslam Javed Minhas and Jamshed Khan for secretary-general, Syed Munawar Bokhari and Khalid Hissam for joint secretary and Musharraf Mahmood and Malik Abid Husain for library secretary.
