DHAKA, April 24: A mob clashed with police and set ablaze nine vehicles after a teenage student were killed in a road accident in the Bangladesh capital on Sunday, police said. “Some 7,000 people including hundreds of students went on a rampage setting ablaze nine buses and a van after a 13-year-old student was killed in a road accident this noon,” police officer in-charge Jane Alam told AFP.
Traffic was brought to a standstill on the city’s busy Mirpur street for several hours, Alam said.
Police arrested the driver of a bus that hit the student and brought the mob under control by firing tear gas canisters into the crowd, he said.
