KARACHI, March 25: Unknown armed men shot dead the owner of a hotel in Shireen Jinnah Colony late Thursday night.

Officials at the Jackson police station said Mohammad Dawood Khan slept in his thatched hotel at around 2.45am when the assailants killed him. They left the pistol behind. They added that Mr Khan, who hailed from Balochistan, was probably killed because of a personal enmity.

A truck of the National Logistics Cell on Friday crushed a motorcyclist to death and injured the pillion-rider in Mohajir Camp No 1.

Officials at the Site police station said 30-year-old Abdul Ghafoor, who worked at a garment factor, and his 20-year-old friend, Faiz Rasool, were on a bike in Mohajir Camp when a speeding NLC truck hit them. Mr Ghafoor died on the spot and Mr Rasool was badly injured, they said.

They said Mr Ghafoor was the eldest of his five siblings.

A truck killed Saeed, 7, in Mochko on Friday, police said. His siblings — Waheed, 8, and Salma, 13 — were injured, they added.
