Shoaib ignores deadlines

LAHORE, July 1: Paceman Shoaib Akhtar is likely to report at the ongoing national training camp at the Qadhafi Stadium on Saturday. The camp is in progress to finalise Pakistan team for the forthcoming Asia Cup in Sri Lanka from July 16.

Shoaib, who is presently playing for Durham county in England, is the only missing probable from the list of 26called for camp. It is learnt Shoaib has decided to join the camp after meeting new Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer in London. Woolmer arrives on Friday.

But Shoaib ignored the deadline given by the selection committee and the camp-commandant on joining the camp. National selector Ehteshamuddin said on Wednesday that Shoaib would only be considered if he joined the camp on Thursday. Mohammad Sami and Danish Kaneria, who arrived from London, joined the camp on Wednesday.
