HYDERABAD, July 1: Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz chairman Bashir Qureshi as well as Abdul Wahid Areesar, Dr Niaz Kalani and Sarmad Mirani have criticized the arrest of party leaders, Saghar Hanif Burdi, Chacha Qasim Soomro and Shafi Jogi.

In a joint statement issued here on Wednesday, they said that the people of Sindh had given a positive response to the JSQM strike call against the Kalabagh dam, Thal canal as well as acute water shortage in the province.

They deplored that party activists were being victimized and their houses being raided. They demanded that the workers should be released forthwith and false cases registered against them should be withdrawn.

HPC OFFICE-BEARERS: Hamid Shaikh was declared president-elect of the Hyderabad Press Club at the annual elections held here on Wednesday. Moreover, Iqbal Mallah, Jai Parkash, Jaffar Memon and Altaf Koti were elected general secretary, vice president, joint secretary and treasurer respectively.

A 10-member governing body comprising Ali Hassan, Junaid Khanzada, Yasin Rahi, Mubarak Qureshi, Lala Rehman, Asadullah Dahri, Anwar Siyal, Ahmed Shaikh, Akhtar Pirzada and Qadeer Ghouri was also elected.

RESULTS: The University of Sindh on Wednesday announced the results of BA, BSc, BCom, MA, previous, LLB I and II and BSc (Home Economics) annual examinations 2003 of the college students.
