LAHORE, Jan 25: A youth lost his life in a kite-flying related incident in his house on Abdul Karim Road in Qila Gujjar Singh on Sunday. Quoting family, police said Nasir Javed (21) was on the roof when he caught the metal string of a stray kite. Suddenly, the string touched an electric wire. Nasir received a shock and sustained burn injuries. On hearing screams for help, the family members rushed to the roof and took the injured to hospital where he died.

The police said some labourers were at work at an under-construction house. Of them, Nadeem and Mohammad Khan disputed for Rs10. Both the men exchanged hot words. Nadeem picked up a rod and attacked Niazi and injured him seriously. He was rushed to hospital where he died. The alleged killer was caught by passersby and handed over to the police.

DACOITY BID: Bandits attempted to break the lockers of a bank at main market in Gulberg between Saturday night. The bank staff, when opened it up in the morning, found that someone had tried to break the lockers. Immediately, manager Aftab Chaudhry was called out besides the police.

One of the guards, Hanif, was found tied with ropes and his mouth glued with adhesive tape. Opening gates and locks of main lockers had been hammered and attempted to cut with some sharp-edged cutter.

The guard was taken into custody and interrogated, who told the police that his fellow guard, Afzal, was involved in the dacoity attempt. He said the fellow guard together with two other accomplices tied him up and had been trying to break the lockers. Nothing was missing from the bank, the manager told the police.
