ISLAMABAD, Nov 24: Ushna Suhail and Saba Aziz of Pakistan won the first round of the main draw of first ITF Pakistan Women International Tennis Futures Circuit played at PTF Tennis Complex on Monday.
Ushna, 15, thrashed Srivastava Dipti from India in a well contested three set match 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
Saba Aziz qualified for the pre-quarter-final eliminating compatriot Meheq Khokhar in straight sets 6-3 6-3.
Anushree Thammanna of India won her encounter against Sarah Mahboob in a three set match 3-6,6-4,7-5.
At one stage Sarah won the first set at 6-3 and was leading 2-0 in the second set. However, Anushree bounced back in style and won the second set 6-4. The score went up 5-5 in the final set and Anushree won the final set at 7-5 breaking Sarah’s 10th game by hitting some good shots.
Another interesting match of the day was played between Reddy Harshini of India and Sara Mansoor of Pakistan. Reddy won the first set at 6-2 by breaking second and fourth game of Sara. In the second set Sara built up the winning lead 5-1 by breaking third and fourth game of Reddy and won the second set at 6-2 levelling the match 1 set all.
The score went up to 6-6 all as both the players held their respective serves and set was decided on tie break, Reddy won the tie break at 7-4 by playing a suberb game at the the crucial moment. Sara lost the match by hitting double fault at 4-6 in the tie break.
