ARIFWALA, Sept 15: A man murdered his estranged wife and five members of her family, including two children, here on Monday.

Abdul Hafeez Bhatti, of Chak 41-EB, Kabula, married Fauzia, daughter of Riaz Ahmad Bhatti, for love a year ago.

However, she left her husband’s house after a domestic dispute a month ago and refused to return.

Hafeez, with the help of his cousin Arshad and friend Allah Nawaz, on Monday killed his wife Fauzia, father-in-law Riaz, mother-in-law Hameeda, sister-in-law Rukhsana, 10, and two brothers-in-law -- two-year-old Kashif and three-year-old Zaheer Ahmed -- and surrendered to the police.

His two accomplices managed to escape.

DSP Mehr Mohammad Yousuf said raids were being conducted to arrest the fleeing assailants.

Hafeez Bhatti told this agency he had no regrets.—APP
