QUETTA, May 28: Three civilians and an army soldier were killed in two incidents of firing here on Wednesday night.

According to police, gunmen on a bike opened fire on a shop near the Railway Girls High School, injuring two people. They were taken to the civil hospital where they died. They were identified as Mohammad Israr and Mohammad Iqbal.

Iqbal, a cable operator, had come to the shop owned by his friend Israr.

“It is a target killing,” a senior police officer said.

The second incident took place in the railway guard colony where armed men attacked two people standing outside their house, killing them on the spot. They were identified as Waqar Ahmed and Abdul Saeed.

Sources said that Saeed worked for the army and he had come to the colony to meet his cousin Waqar.

Grenade attack

Four members of a family were injured in a grenade attack on a house on the Kalat Street on Wednesday.

According to police sources, the grenade exploded in the courtyard of the house of Abdul Salam Lodhi, an employee of the communications and works department.

Mr Lodhi, his wife and two children were injured. Police said a home-made grenade had been used in theattack.
